Terms of use
Last updated: 29 October 2026
1. Who we are
Mapdirector (mapdirector.com) is provided by Boomklever CommV, Margarethalaan 75, 3600 Genk, Belgium, enterprise and VAT number BE0749.457.137, email info@mapdirector.com. "We" means us; "you" means anyone using Mapdirector.
By creating an account or using Mapdirector, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy.
2. Mapdirector is in beta
Mapdirector is in active development. Features change, things break, and renders sometimes fail. It is free during the beta. We will tell you in advance before any feature you use becomes paid, and nothing will be charged without you choosing a paid plan.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can try Mapdirector without an account. Trips made that way are temporary and deleted after 14 days unless you create an account and keep them.
- You can delete your account at any time under Account.
4. Your content stays yours
Your tracks, photos, text and the maps and videos you make ("your content") belong to you, or to whoever you licensed them from.
You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and display your content in order to:
- provide Mapdirector to you;
- show what you publish to others, including on discovery pages in Mapdirector, and, where a published trip offers it, let other users copy its route into their own trips;
- feature published trips in our marketing, on our website, social media, newsletters and in videos about Mapdirector, credited to you;
- create aggregated, anonymous statistics, such as heatmaps or popular paths, that do not identify you (see the privacy policy for how we protect you, and how to opt out).
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, or, for the last two points, when you make a trip private or ask us to stop. It does not reach marketing already published before that, copies other people have made of published content, statistics already built (which cannot be traced back to you), or backups kept for a short period.
You confirm that you have the right to upload your content, and that it does not break the law or anyone else's rights (for example, photos of people who did not agree to be published).
5. Publishing
When you publish a trip, anyone with the link can see it, it may appear in search engines and on discovery pages in Mapdirector, and we may feature it in our marketing (section 4). Your route shows where you were and when. You can make a trip private again at any time.
6. What you may not do
- Upload illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Harass, threaten or expose other people, including publishing someone else's location without their permission.
- Try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, scrape it, or access other people's data.
- Use Mapdirector to send spam or malware.
- Resell or redistribute the map data, imagery or elevation data we show outside of the maps and videos you make with Mapdirector.
7. Maps, videos and attribution
Mapdirector's maps are built on data from third parties, including OpenStreetMap contributors, MapTiler, Mapterhorn and others credited on the map. Their licences require the credits shown on maps and videos.
- You may use maps and videos you make with Mapdirector in your own projects, including posting them on social media, your website or your channels.
- Do not remove or hide the map credits from exported videos or images.
8. Connected services
You can connect an account you have with another service, for example Garmin, COROS, Suunto or Polar, so you can bring in activities without exporting files. When you do:
- you ask us to fetch your activities from that service on your behalf, and we import only the activities you choose;
- that service's own terms also apply to the data it sends us, and they can limit what we may do with it, for example keep it out of heatmaps, partner statistics, AI features or our marketing;
- you can disconnect at any time under Account. We then delete our access to that service; tracks you already imported stay until you delete them;
- we are not responsible for the other service being available, or for the accuracy of the data it sends.
9. Reporting illegal content
If you see content on Mapdirector that you believe is illegal, report it to info@mapdirector.com, with the link and why you think it is illegal. We review reports promptly and carefully.
If we remove or restrict your content or account, we tell you why and how you can contest the decision, unless the law prevents us or it concerns spam. You can reply to that message to ask us to reconsider.
Point of contact for authorities and users under the EU Digital Services Act: info@mapdirector.com, in English, Dutch or French.
10. Suspension and ending
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after warning you where reasonable. You can stop using Mapdirector and delete your account at any time.
If we ever shut Mapdirector down, we will give you at least 60 days' notice to download your content.
11. Our responsibility
We do our best to keep Mapdirector running and your data safe, but during the beta we provide it as it is, without a guarantee that it is always available, error-free or that renders succeed.
Keep your own copies of your original files and finished videos; Mapdirector is not a backup service.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise, as far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to €100 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is higher.
If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights consumer law in your country gives you.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it applies. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you can bring a claim in your own courts. Otherwise the courts of Limburg (Hasselt division), Belgium, have jurisdiction.
